Plant Manager - KPC (Central)

Description

Purpose: 

The Plant Manager is responsible for the safe operations of the manufacturing of precast concrete products and for the planning and execution of the operations of the plant, improving the operational practices and supervising employees. The Plant Manager is responsible for all hiring, development and performance monitoring of craft workers and leads the creation of a positive working environment.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure consistent, efficient and accurate production of plant. 
• Check production drawings to determine needs for the day; address any urgent needs immediately. 
• Address production issues as needed. 
• Work with employees to keep production flowing efficiently. 
• Coordinate production with shipping schedule for all specialty structures
• Communicate Redi-Mix needs to dispatch in a timely manner and remain in constant, regular communication. 
• Effectively manage all on-site staff. 
  • Interview and hire qualified  employees for production shop.  
  • Evaluate employee work performance and provide feedback and direction regularly and as needed.
  • Handle employee issues in a prompt and professional manner. 
  • Review and approve payroll for all employees. 
  • Coordinate and approve PTO for all employees.
• Provide leadership to all plant staff.
• Manage materials inventory to ensure production and maintenance needs are met in a cost-effective manner. 
  • Order lumber in accordance with shop needs. 
  • Order lifting hardware as required for specific jobs when needed. 
  • Order all wire as needed for stock manholes and boxes. 
  • Order replacement parts for machines in the shop as needed. 
  • Follow up on all orders placed off of inventory list on a daily basis.
• Complete monthly inventory and submit to General Manager.
• Keep shop and production yard organized and in order.
• Check overhead crane daily inspection sheet.
• Ensure all product is patched or repaired as quickly as possible whenever needed.
• Check weight on any non-standard product to be produced.
• Schedule annual inspections on overhead cranes and retain records.
• Schedule inspections on all chain slings and hoist cables.  
  • Coordinate any repairs on chain slings or hoist cables as needed.  
  • Retain records of chain slings and hoist cable certs.
• Maintain records of annual overhead crane inspections and repairs.
• Coordinate repairs on equipment with shop as needed.  
  • Follow up with shop to track daily / weekly maintenance on all machines.
• Coordinate form maintenance and schedule repairs as needed.
• Effectively manage changing manufacturing needs of the shop.
• Present a professional company appearance.
• Maintain current knowledge of and remain compliant with current NPCA, federal, state, local and company regulations.
• Perform all activities in a safe manner.
• Other duties and responsibilities may be required as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lead, manage and motivate staff
• Prior supervisory experience
• Prior experience in concrete industry preferred

Physical Demands:

· Ability to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs.

· Ability to work in extreme weather, including but not limited to high heat, low temperature, and high sun environments.

· Ability to operate tools required to complete construction projects.

· Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and kneel as required to construct forms.
