The Director of Manufacturing will oversee the Manufacturing and assembly of the operation with a staff of 250, including 5 Managers, and ensuring effective and efficient use of facilities and staff while achieving operational goals and objectives, while utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools.

Leadership Responsibilities:

Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of manufacturing employees, including management or 5 Managers with P&L ownership.
Oversees schedules and assignments for the location.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Provides a servant leadership environment for operational team and individual contributors.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.
Work with manufacturing concepts to improve overall operation including Design for Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Production Process development and validation.
Work to optimize high product mix, mid volume manufacturing and assembly operation, utilizing Lean Manufacturing methods and tools.
Advise the team on status of supplier management and procurement principles through supply agreements to ensure continuity of material supplier to support manufacturing output.
Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.

Work across functional groups to understand key metrics that affect the overall business needs (output and financial) at the plant level, down to the work-cell level.
Develop meaningful manufacturing metrics that are aligned to the overall business needs for the goals and the plant, from Management to Work-Cell level.
Hold Managers and Supervisors accountable to developed metrics (output, Quality, Financials, throughput, etc.)
Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
Assists chief operating officer with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.
Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
Works with chief financial officer to develop operating budget.
Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High product mix, low volume manufacturing
Diverse Manufacturing experience.
Working knowledge of supplier management and procurement principles to ensure continuity and support manufacturing output.
Assembly and job shop type manufacturing and assembly.
Experience with manufacturing and engineering concepts including Lean-
Manufacturing, Design for Excellence (DFX), DFMA
Experience leading and directing others (team of 5 Managers)
Managers) and 250 employees including Engineering, Product Assembly, and Production Planning.
Demonstrated success in developing a team, not just managing the team, and implementing a vision to support and achieve goals.
Experience with Production Process Development and Validation.
Ability to implement apply and implement best practices.
Experience with machining, electronic or electrical assembly.
Experience with workflow optimization and improvements.
Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing division.
Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.
Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.
At least ten years of experience in industrial management required, within a high mix low volume manufacturing and assembly operation.
Experience Directing a Manufacturing and Assembly operation with direct manager reports, in a high product mix, mid to low volume manufacturing operation.
Demonstrated servant leader with measurable achievements in improving manufacturing operations.
