Plant Operator - Waste Technician

The Plant Operator-Waste Technician will oversee daily operations, inventory of supplies and equipment in the disposal facility, comply with RCRA, DOT, EPA, OSHA, and Federal/State/Local permit requirements. Under direct supervision of the Facility Manager. At all times he/she will conduct his/herself professionally and project Miller Environmental positively to employees and clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Regularly report and consult with Facility Manager.

Performs waste collection and disposal operations including identification, classification and segregation of hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, regulated medical waste and recyclable materials

Serve as a resource to departments for questions regarding waste, including waste minimization and spill prevention

Accurately maintains hazardous materials waste records including waste manifests.

Provides technical guidance on proper waste handling, packaging, labeling, and disposal procedures

Maintain and update waste inventories and supplies

Accept and sort all incoming paint care clients

Accept and sort all incoming HHW (household hazardous waste) clients

Properly segregate incoming CESQG.

Independently and successfully manage maintenance of the disposal facility.

Maintain a safe work environment for all personnel on site.

Work with staff to ensure all equipment and inventory are in good working order.

Participate in projects and events throughout the organization (ie: scheduled HHW events)

Monitor/supervise offloading of incoming liquid loads. Sample & QA/QC incoming liquid loads.

Daily Inventory Reconciliation of Petroleum Storage Tanks.

Conduct/supervise the transfer of liquids with pumps/vacuum truck.

Conduct/supervise offloading of incoming drum loads.

Prepare Milk Run trailer for weekly pick up.

Complete weekly site Health & Safety supervision.

Qualification/Requirements:

· Excellent communication skills; verbal and written

· Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Ability to multi-task

· Ability to work under pressure and time sensitive deadlines

· Strong Mechanical background

· Detail orientated and works with a high degree of accuracy

· Valid unrestricted driver’s license

Education/Training/Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED, B.S. preferred with,

· Experience in waste services/environmental services preferred.

Working in hot and cold temperatures, exposed to elements intermittently in a limited temperature controlled facility.
