Job Summary:
The Plasma Table Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating plasma burn tables and other metal-cutting equipment to produce accurate steel components for fabrication. This role involves loading raw materials, aligning and monitoring machine operations, inspecting finished parts for quality and adherence to specifications, and performing routine maintenance on equipment. The operator will also handle materials using forklifts or overhead cranes, maintain a clean and organized work area, and follow all safety protocols. Cross-training and supporting other departments as needed is a required part of this role.
Responsibilities:
Operate steel fabrication machinery, including plasma burn tables, plasma cutters, and other metal- cutting equipment.
Load raw materials into machines, ensure proper alignment, and monitor the cutting process.
Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
Use measuring tools (e.g., tape measures, calipers) to confirm precision in metal cutting and fabrication.
Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
Assist in material handling, including moving steel parts using forklifts and overhead cranes (training provided if necessary).
Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while following safety protocols.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and government regulations (e.g., OSHA standards).
Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Promptly report any accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards to a supervisor.
Actively participate in all mandatory safety training, drills, and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
Work cooperatively with team members to achieve production goals and departmental objectives.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
Monitor own work to ensure it meets quality specifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience: 2 years of recent manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Background in steel fabrication or related technical skills (preferred but not required).
Experience with working around production machinery is highly preferred
Familiarity with forklifts, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment.
Strong measurement skills and proficiency with measuring tools are required.
Training from a local trade school is beneficial.
Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and ability to adapt to various tasks.
Openness to the opportunity to build a long-term career in steel fabrication.
Willingness to cross-train and support other departments is required
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Ability to read, write, and understand basic English/Spanish to interpret/follow safety guidelines and work instructions.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to [e.g., 50 pounds] regularly.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions common to a manufacturing facility (e.g., varying temperatures, noise levels, potential for dust/debris, wet floors).
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.
