Plate Truck Laborer

Description

 We are seeking a Plate Truck Laborer that is involved in the maintenance or construction of railroad tracks, particularly focusing on handling tie plates (steel base plates that sit between the rail and the wooden or concrete railroad ties). The "plate truck" refers to a specialized vehicle used to transport and dispense these heavy plates along the track.

Job Responsibilities:

• Loading and unloading tie plates from the plate truck.
   
• Positioning tie plates correctly on railroad ties.
   
• Assisting with track construction or repair tasks (e.g., aligning rails, driving spikes).
   
• Operating or assisting with machinery like plate-laying equipment or hydraulic tools.
   
• Performing safety checks and following railroad safety regulations.
   

Required Skills:

• Physical strength and stamina (heavy lifting and long hours outdoors).
   
• Ability to work as part of a crew.
   
• Familiarity with hand tools and basic mechanical equipment.
   
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and potentially remote locations.
