Job Summary 

The Power Play Educator prepares, schedules, and delivers various lessons for the Play Power programs, based on the Play Power curriculum, at local schools throughout the school year. As these presentations are heavily concentrated during the school year, during the summer months, the Power Play Educator will evaluate, train, and prepare for the next school year and will fill in as needed for the Museum with educational programming, including serving as a camp counselor and facilitating programming at the Museum and for our outreach programs.  

Responsibilities and Duties 

• Promote the culture and brand of LCM. 

• Project a positive image of the organization to employees, volunteers, guests, and the community. 

• Attend Play Power community and Play Power school events (e.g.: literacy nights, festivals, graduations).  

• Manage the marketing, scheduling, delivery, and reporting of Play Power curriculum and programs. 

• Work with the Education Team to achieve program goals. 

• Provide high-quality, content-rich, engaging activities for all classes participating in the Play Power program. 

• Coordinate
  scheduling and planning
  with all Play Power schools and partners.  

• Collect data daily, including photographic, numeric, and anecdotal stories. 

• Collect annual data with the assistance of Health & Wellness Director  

• Prepare and present weekly reports on Play Power programs to Health & Wellness Director and monthly to Education Team.  

• Assist
  with strengthening existing Play Power programs and
  creating new Play Power programs. 

• Collaborate with the Education Team including other Play Power Educators, Site Teachers, and Impact Area Directors to ensure robust Play Power programming  

• Facilitate Play Power school field trips and arrange the appropriate staffing and scheduling for field trips.  

• Provide Play Power curriculum and activities to summer programs in the Museum and through summer outreach.  

• Facilitate educational programming at LCM during the summer months.  

• Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s
  Degree  

• At least 5 years of teacher experience  

• At least 2 years of Early Childhood Development experience 

• At least 2 years of Curriculum Development and Classroom Management experience  

• Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia Approach to Childhood Education  

• Excellent organizational,
  multi-tasking, time-management, problem-solving, communication, customer service, and presentation skills 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Counseling 

• At least 5 years of Public-School Teacher experience  

• Valid Louisiana driver’s license  

• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills 

• Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite 

Physical Requirements 

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  Must be able to travel to local schools and provide own transportation.
