McCall Thomas Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a Plow Operator to work with our construction crews to install underground telecommunications. This will be a 1099 contract position. Travel will be required for this position- primarily in GA, NC and SC.

The Plow Operator is responsible for operating cable plowing equipment used to install underground fiber optic cable and conduit. The ideal candidate will have experience with utility construction, heavy equipment operation, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Primary Responsibilities:
Operate cable plows and related construction equipment for fiber optic installation projects
Install underground fiber optic cable, conduit, and associated infrastructure according to project specifications
Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on assigned equipment
Read utility locates, construction plans, and route maps
Maintain awareness of underground utilities and follow all excavation safety requirements
Complete required paperwork, daily reports, and equipment logs
Adhere to company safety policies and industry regulations
Assist with general construction activities as needed
What You Will Need:
High School diploma or GED
Eligibility to work in the US without any form of sponsorship requirement
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL-A preferred
Previous experience operating cable plows, trenchers, or similar heavy equipment preferred
Experience in telecommunications, utility, or underground construction is highly desirable
Ability to read construction plans and utility locates
Strong understanding of job site safety practices
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
Preferred Certifications
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
First Aid/CPR
Flagging
CDL
Work Environment
Outdoor construction environment in varying weather conditions
Exposure to heavy equipment and underground utilities
Fast-paced utility construction projects with production deadlines
Benefits are not available to 1099 contract employees, but will be offered if this position converts to a full-time regular hire of McCall-Thomas Engineering in the future.
