Plumbing Student

The Plumbing Student position is a paid training program in which students will be expected to learn at a rigorous pace to meet the standard of a 'truck ready' service plumber at Hoffmann Brothers. Students, by the end of the program, must show mastery of troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing water heaters, sump pumps, toilets, faucets, garbage disposals and bathroom fixtures. Assessments will be given throughout the training and passing scores will be required to remain in the program.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Engage in classroom and lab activities to build knowledge of service plumbing. 
• Successful completion of assessments and tasks throughout program.
• Assist plumbing technicians on jobsites with tasks assigned.
• Maintain record of hours worked daily and weekly.
• Perform all duties with a focus on safety of self and others. 
• Maintain a clean and organized workplace in the office, lab, and customers' property. 
• Meet weekly with Plumbing Training Lead to monitor progress of learning and mastery of content.
• Self-motivate to put in extra time and effort when needed to master content. 

Safety: 

• Must consider safety one’s primary job, both for personal, coworker and public benefit, and must have general knowledge of safe working practices and of MO OSHA requirements.

Requirements: 

• To adequately perform the duties of this job the employee is regularly and routinely required to sit; stand, walk, stoop, use hands to handle controls; hear, and talk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50lbs and up. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• The work environment can vary depending on the season and scope of work – employees are required to work outdoors throughout the seasons. The work environment will subject employees to continual interruptions and changing priorities. Effective, consistent, and constant communication with customers, vendors, co-workers, and others is required.
