Role Overview
The Plumbing Superintendent manages field operations for commercial and industrial plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and medical gas installations. The role is responsible for safety, quality, scheduling, and labor performance across all phases of construction.
Working closely with HVAC, piping, and sheet metal teams as well as project managers and general contractors the Superintendent ensures coordinated workflows and successful delivery of high-performing plumbing systems.
Core Responsibilities
Lead and supervise plumbing crews on large commercial projects
Oversee installation of domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, and medical gas systems
Enforce OSHA 30 standards and company safety policies across all plumbing activities
Review plumbing shop drawings, submittals, and coordination drawings
Plan material deliveries, prefabrication, and on-site logistics
Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with codes and project specifications
Manage hydrostatic and pressure testing of plumbing systems
Document daily reports, productivity, manpower, and as-built drawings
Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and other trades
Mentor journeymen and apprentices to improve productivity and technical skills
Required Background
5+ years supervisory experience in commercial plumbing
Proven experience with domestic water, sanitary, storm, and medical gas systems in hospitals, data centers, or high-rises
OSHA 30 certification
State plumbing license required; Master Plumber license strongly preferred
Med gas certification preferred
Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software
Ability to meet physical demands including lifting, working at heights, and confined spaces
Valid drivers license with ability to pass background, drug, and MVR screenings
