New England Homes for the Deaf, founded in 1901, is a life plan community that offers a continuum of care to Deaf, Deafblind, and hard of hearing seniors, including independent living, rest home, skilled nursing community, Deaf senior centers, short-term rehabilitation services, respite care services and hospice care. The New England Homes for the Deaf mission is to provide long term healthcare, housing, recreational activities and social support for Deaf, Deafblind and hard of hearing individuals in an accessible, barrier-free, and culturally sensitive environment with optimal communication and architectural resources.



Per Diem - weekends only


Available shifts: 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM, 11:30 AM - 7:00 PM, or 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM



Position Summary:


As a Point of Care, you will provide nutritious meals for our Deaf and Deafblind residents in our long-term care, nursing facility. You will assist with the food preparation, setting tables, and sanitation of dishes. Helping to provide a safe healthy environment and excellent customer service, with clear understanding of sanitary procedures.



Responsibilities:



  • Review with nursing menu for service

  • Check all foods and equipment temperature before meal service and after meal service

  • Three (3) hot waters for tea and hot chocolate

  • Four (4) coffee containers

  • Desserts

  • Hot foot including mechanical ground and moist ground

  • Proper serving utensils

  • Tray tickets

  • Clean cart/dirty card

  • With three (3) white containers, one (1) gray, and one (1) sanitizer for flatware

  • Check gloves

  • All foods in steam table

  • All special adaptive ware available at mealtime

  • Book for textures during meal service available

  • Plate presentation

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:



  • Clear understanding of sanitary codes.

  • Knowledge of safety procedures.

  • Ability to perform tasks as directed.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • All staff are required to take our free, on-site ASL and Deaf culture classes.
