Police Communications Specialist

SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION:

Answers emergency calls for service, operates emergency communications system; types and/or enters information and other data into related equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

Ability to think clearly and speak distinctly under pressure and urgency. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and recall information correctly. Ability to properly handle several activities at one time; accurately transmit 
and receive messages; exercise good judgement in evaluation of job-related situations. Ability to make sound decisions; keep accurate records; and deal courteously and effectively with the public and associates.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:

High School diploma or equivalent; eighteen years of age; type a minimum of 40 wpm; knowledge of computers and office 
machines.
