The Ann Arbor Police Department is a full-service department with many services and divisions. These include a detective section, traffic services unit, K9, motorcycle and bicycle patrols, as well as a community engagement unit that includes many programs and opportunities to volunteer and ââget involved. Our service specialist staff help both the sworn staff and community through various duties within the department, including taking reports at the front desk and assisting with traffic control at large events. Schedule: Working within the Community Engagement Unit, hours are generally Monday through Friday. However, to meet the needs of the
community, weekend hours may be required. Hours are to be set by management as needed.
Starting Hourly Rate: $29.58
After hire, pay increases are dependent on length of service, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.

Role Summary:
Police Service Specialists help connect the Police Department with the community by providing professional, non-sworn services, responding to community needs, sharing information and resources, and supporting positive interactions between community members and law enforcement personnel. Depending on departmental needs and assigned responsibilities, the position may assist with community outreach, victim support, public education, and other community-focused initiatives.
