Police Services Officer

Pay: $18.42- $23.00 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Performs a variety of clerical duties including check-in deliveries and visitors, filing reports, preparing and distributing interoffice mail, completing the appropriate related departmental reports, delivering reports, distributing messages.

2. Responsible for gathering information relating to public offenses by interviewing individuals in person and by phone; determine as to whether incidents are criminal or civil in nature. May be required to testify in court.

3. Accurately collect and preserve evidence or property.

4. Assists with transporting departmental vehicles to Central Vehicle Maintenance as vehicle service/maintenance requirements arise. May involve operating a motor vehicle under nonemergency conditions.

5. Take fingerprints for citizens needing fingerprint cards as part of hiring or background checks. These may need to be notarized.

6. Prepares and provides information for the public and responds to public inquiries relating to departmental protocols and services.

7. Assists Communication Specialists in the duties of answering telephone calls and/or data entry.

8. Enters requests for Police Officers to transport domestic violence victims to the local shelter or provide “Stand-By” duty (accompany to or meet at home to prevent any altercations with other residents).

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must be 18 years old at time of employment.

2. Must be a United States citizen or authorized alien worker.

3. High School Diploma or equivalent.

4. Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and acceptable driving record.

5. Missouri Notary Public or the ability to become a Notary preferred.

6. No felony convictions or commission of or participation in any felony crime, whether detected or not.

7. No on-going or repetitious history of committing or participating in Misdemeanor crimes, whether detected or not.

8. Must be creditable witness in Court.

9. One (1) year law enforcement, customer service or office experience preferred.

10. Pass a pre-employment polygraph examination.
