The Daily Wire is seeking a sharp, enterprising Politics Reporter to deliver original, hard-hitting news coverage from across the landscape of American politics. From campaigns and elections to policy debates, government agencies, and the White House, you’ll dig deep into the stories that shape the nation. In addition to your written reporting, you’ll bring your insights and storytelling skills to Daily Wire programs—such as Morning Wire—helping our audience stay informed and engaged with the most pressing political developments.
This position can be located in Nashville, TN, or Washington, D.C.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop relationships in the U.S. Congress and across the political sphere to produce original reporting for The Daily Wire
- Produce original news for The Daily Wire based on stories assigned or approved by the Washington Editor, Editor-In-Chief, or authorized editors
- Report on stories in on-camera news media interviews or other video formats, both internal and external
- Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisors as deemed appropriate
Experience & Requirements
- Prior experience as a news reporter
- Smooth, compelling, and precise writing style
- Knowledge of Congress: how committees work, how legislation is drafted, who the key players are, etc.
- Strong ability to interview people and dig for information
- Knowledge of the political editorial landscape and of the audience of our publication
- A willingness and ability to spend time on the Hill, cultivating sources with lawmakers and staffers, and keeping an ear to the ground for developing stories
