The Opportunity

The Porter supports the overall functionality and cleanliness of the office. This role combines hands-on porter duties with essential facilities maintenance responsibilities to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Who We Are

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration. Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

Who You Are

• You have experience with in office coordination, facilities maintenance, or a similar role preferred


• You are committed to CEO’s mission and are interested in working in a fast ­paced, growing, results oriented nonprofit environment


• You have strong organizational skills with an attention to detail


• You have the ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks regularly.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Key responsibilities of the Porter include but are not limited to:

Porter & Facilities Maintenance

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of common areas, including restrooms, kitchens, meeting rooms, and reception areas.


• Handle light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, assembling furniture, and basic equipment upkeep.


• Ensure trash and recycling are disposed of properly and on schedule.


• Monitor office conditions and report any maintenance or safety issues.


• Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed.

Compensation and Benefits  

The hourly wage for this position is $22.6924. In an effort to be both equitable and transparent, CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, internal equity, and home office location in making a final determination on our salary offer.
