Description

Position Overview 

Wine Director. This position serves as the leader of knowledge and core initiatives related to H&P’s vast wine portfolio. 

Key Accountabilities:

• Collaborating with senior leadership to set overall direction related to H&P’s wine portfolio 

• Developing and implementing training programs with a focus on product knowledge and sales technique

• Develop professional, productive partnership relationships with wineries and suppliers

• Meeting with suppliers to collaborate on objectives, strategies, and review performance

• Working side by side with managers and sales representatives to develop and enhance their ability to sell the H&P wine portfolio

• Working in conjunction with Sales Manager and Division Managers to ensure that each salesperson meets or exceeds all distribution and sales goals

• Identify new products to bring into H&P’s wine portfolio

• Active, knowledgeable participation in departmental and inter-departmental meetings 

• Work with purchasing and analyze reports in order to maintain proper inventory levels

• Complete other special projects as needs arise and as requested 

• Other duties may be assigned as required


Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive wine knowledge is required

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and self-motivation

• Strong desire to coach and develop others

• Ability to design, implement, and evaluate effective educational programs

• Excellent organization skills

• Effective presentation and facilitation skills

• Must have strong ethics and work as an effective, collaborative leader

Education/Training/Experience

• WSET Liaison. Level 3 Award

• Minimum of 5 years + experience in the wine & spirts industry preferred 

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Business, Marketing, Supply Chain/Operations or other relevant field preferred

• Computer literacy is a must and experience in Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential

Physical Demands and Environment:

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
