POST-CLOSER – JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Post-Closer Department: Post-Closing
Reports to: Post-Closing Manager Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-exempt Work Location: Hybrid Ann Arbor, MI
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Compensation: $17-19 per hour
SUMMARY & PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Post-Closer is primarily responsible for managing the mortgage file after closing and before the loan is delivered to the investor. This individual plays a key role in ensuring the investment quality of each loan by insuring the loan functions, along with monitoring and resolving items within the loan. Individuals serving in this role will need to have a keen attention to detail while working under the direct supervision of the department manager.
PRIMARY POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer the post-funding review of each loan package to ensure all closing documents are enclosed;
- Audit loan documents to ensure compliance with federal, state, company, and investor guidelines;
- Obtain missing documentation and/or corrections, as necessary;
- Track and resolve investor exceptions and trailing documents, to include but not limited to: updating Encompass for reporting and analysis of exception reporting;
- Prepare the delivery of a loan file to investors by partnering with Underwriters, Loan Processors, and Sales in a timely manner;
- Track and cure exceptions, as necessary;
- Deliver collateral documents to the warehouse banks in a timely manner;
- Perform clerical functions as assigned, and assist Underwriters with preparing the file for a credit decision;
- Stay abreast of changing company policy, mortgage regulations, laws, and generally accepted industry best practices;
- Complete other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
- At least one (1) year of prior mortgage industry experience required;
- Must have exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
- Must be dependable with meeting deadlines and managing time;
- Must be willing to take initiative to train and stay informed
- Have an ability to work independently on multiple files simultaneously;
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- An Associate’s Degree or professional certification in the area of Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, or equivalent field of study;
