Job Description - Post Production Manager

Job Overview:

The Post-Production Manager works at our office located in Leesburg, Virginia, under the leadership of the Post Production Supervisor and manages all post client expectations, project schedules, and deliverable deadlines so that Distant Moon’s post production team continues to deliver exceptional, cinematic films.

Post Production Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Working under the leadership of the post-production supervisor and reporting to him for all work, scheduling, and deliverables.
  • Drafting and overseeing of all post-production schedules to ensure deliverables are sent on time and within budget.
  • Updating schedules when changes occur.
  • Drafting post budget estimates on a project by project basis;
  • Assigning tasks to editors in teamwork and managing editorial team workloads.
  • Sending of post-production deliverables along with director notes and frame links via email and slack (when applicable).
  • Handling of all stock licensing and ensuring assets are within budget per project
  • Creating and finalizing copyright directories for all projects.
  • Interfacing with clients and freelancers before and after projects via Slack, email, and video conferencing to communicate accurate details associated with post production budgets and timelines and to keep projects moving forward.
  • Communicating with clients during projects to instill trust and maintain Distant Moon’s dedication to each project by providing status updates, requesting follow up/notes from clients to meet deadlines, and managing back-and-forth during the revision process to ensure all notes are addressed appropriately.
  • Updating Teamwork with project milestones, timelines, so that projects reflect accurate status across the board.
  • Using Teamwork to budget estimated time for each task to forecast workloads among the post production team.
  • Wrapping post projects in the budget and reporting post production profitability. Reporting team scorecard numbers weekly.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Budgeting, reporting, and project management experience.
  • Entry-level understanding of the post production process and knowledge of how Adobe Premiere and Frame.io are used.
  • Motivated and self-directed.
  • Strong commitment to excellence, creativity, collaboration, integrity, and a lead-by-example work ethic.
  • Able to self-examine and revise work before submitting for review.
  • Welcomes constructive criticism and enjoys learning new ways to sharpen and hone craft.
  • Client communication skills and customer service experience needed to manage client expectations in the event the post production team needs an extension, request client notes, and inquire about client timelines for projects that are not moving according to schedule.
