Poultry Vaccination Technician I

Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an outstanding individual who will be responsible for vaccinations, bird moves, male selection, grading, cleaning, and disinfecting all equipment involved to ensure bio-security. All duties should be performed with safety, bio-security, and animal welfare being top priorities. This role plays a critical part in overall success of the farm operations within the vaccination crew. This crew has primary responsibilities for the animal care and welfare of the birds.

• Work with day old chicks

• Will be required to collect birds for moving, weighing, and vaccinations

• Must be able to work with live animals and the associated environment (poultry houses)

• Collect blood samples, band/tag or remove tags from birds

• Must follow Animal Care Standards, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and Bio-Security policies and procedures

• Ability to work with chemicals such as detergents, disinfects, etc.

• Must perform essential duties in a safe and efficient manner as trained

• Must be able to be around farm related smells or odors and loud/noisy environment

• May occasionally work up to 6 days a week, including some holidays, & weekends.

Job Qualifications:

• Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple task

• Ability to perform work that is repetitive in nature

• Ability to stand for long periods of time

• Ability to grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrist

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50lbs

• Bend and stoop throughout the shift

• Animal husbandry experience preferred but not required. 

• Valid driver's license is a must. 

• Able to work in outside temperatures.

• Able to work well in teams.
