Powder Coat Technician

Description

Summary

Tends equipment that applies and bakes powder coating onto fabricated steel and aluminum products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

• Fill tanks with chemicals used in cleaning process.
• Fills machine reservoir with coating solution, such as powder coating.
• Starts conveyor and hang products to be coated and baked, through equipment.
• Sets heating unit at specified temperature and starts exhaust fans.
• Examines products emerging from baking unit for conformance to coating thickness and appearance specifications.
• Gauges thickness of coating to determine adherence to quality control specifications.
• Test soil load and PH of chemical tanks as specified.
• Must be flexible and willing to learn other jobs throughout the area.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred
• And/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Quality and Production goals set by department must be consistently followed.
• 5S Program must be followed (This is keeping area neat and clean by following the 5S program).
• Must be willing and available to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate and perform required documentation.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
