Role Overview

The Power Generation Field Service Lead is a senior technical and operational leader supporting standby and backup power systems across South Florida. This role serves as the technical and execution lead for field service operations while preparing to transition into a formal Field Service Manager role as the team and region continue to scale.

You will act as the day-to-day point of leadership in the field by supporting technicians, reviewing work quality, solving complex technical issues, and reinforcing safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction. While this role does not initially carry direct people management responsibility, it is expected to mentor technicians, influence execution standards, and partner closely with Service leadership.

This position supports mission-critical customers including hospitals, municipalities, first responders, industrial facilities, and commercial businesses that rely on continuous, reliable power.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reinforce safety standards, procedures, and compliance in the field

Technician Support and Development

  • Mentor and guide Field Service Technicians through hands-on support and coaching
  • Provide informal feedback on performance, workmanship, and professionalism
  • Support onboarding and training of new technicians
  • Model best practices in troubleshooting, documentation, and customer interaction

Field Operations and Job Execution

  • Ensure service jobs are executed correctly both technically and commercially
  • Monitor job progress and help remove barriers that delay completion or invoicing
  • Support scheduling alignment by matching technician skillsets to job requirements
  • Participate in on-call rotation and emergency response coverage as needed

Customer Experience

  • Support resolution of escalated customer concerns alongside Service leadership
  • Maintain strong relationships with industrial, municipal, and commercial customers
  • Ensure clear communication during job execution and closeout
  • Represent MSHS PPG professionally in the field at all times

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales to support service-related opportunities
  • Communicate job status, risks, and execution challenges to leadership
  • Support coordination of generator and load bank rental projects

Path to Management

  • Support process improvements in job management, documentation, and field workflows
  • Participate in leadership development and readiness for future manager responsibilities
  • Gradually assume increased ownership of coordination, oversight, and team leadership as the role evolves

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of hands-on field service experience in power generation, engines, rotating equipment, or heavy mechanical equipment
  • Strong experience working on generators, diesel or gaseous engines, and power systems
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical service workflows, job documentation, and safety compliance
  • Experience supporting industrial, municipal, or commercial customers
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than formal authority
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior lead technician or informal leadership experience
  • Experience with MTU, CAT, Cummins, Kohler, Generac, or similar power generation equipment
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual Spanish
