Job Description

Friends University is seeking to fill the PR and Communication Strategist position in Wichita Kansas. This position provides direction and oversight for developing, deploying, enhancing, and monitoring communication initiatives and tactical plans. Serve as a ‘front-line’ communications resource presenting Friends University to a range of internal and external stakeholders using both traditional channels and new media as appropriate. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and average 40-45 per week. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be requested. Attendance at some university events may be requested, and some travel is required.

Prior work experience with communications and writing or editing experience is desired: experience in higher education preferred.
A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field required.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Ability to operate computer equipment and software including word-processing, email service provider tools, spreadsheet, and internal database mainframe for record keeping and communication purposes (Microsoft Office preferred). Ability to research and write in a variety of styles including writing for websites, advertisements, magazines, stories, news related items. Experience writing in Associated Press style.
