Precision Grinder

Tulsa company in need of a Precision Grinder!

The precision grinder will be able to operate multiple machines and pieces of equipment throughout the grind shop in order to prepare, or finish, customer parts. It is necessary to follow work instructions and blueprints carefully, especially when tight tolerances or high standards of work are required. Skill and attention to detail are required for this position.

Responsibilities Essential Functions ● Operate some, or all, of the following equipment: ○ Precision Grinders ○ Belt Polishers ○ Hydraulic Press (Straightener) ○ Lathe ○ Mill ○ Drill Press ○ Welding Machines ○ Precision Honing Machine ○ Centerless Grinder ○ Overhead cranes ● Perform work in accordance with a schedule, deadlines ● Read and understand blueprints and work instructions ● Operates electric/pneumatic hand tools ● Uses and calibrates varied precision measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) ● Perform visual and instrument inspections of own work ● Complete daily production cards and necessary paperwork ● Log daily work into the computer system ● Use knives and razor blades ● Read and understand grinding and polishing procedures ● Identify different thread types ● Understand different finishes and how to achieve them ● Performs all other duties as assigned.
Other Functions ● Moving material with a forklift or pallet jack ● Clean coolant tanks and make coolant adds ● Clean shop as needed ● 5S and Lean Manufacturing upkeep ● Working for extended periods in proper PPE ● Perform preventative maintenance when possible ● Train other employees in department ● Re-locate and cross train when needed
Position Qualifications ● High School diploma or equivalent ● Must pass pre-employment screening. ● Steady employment history. ● Must have knowledge and experience on precision grinding and polishing ● Possesses own machinist tools ● Must be able to read and calibrate precision measuring devices
Special Requirements and Considerations ● Basic machine shop schooling or equivalent ● Possess basic hand tools. ● Precision instruments schooling or equivalent. ● Welding school or equivalent.
