Position Overview
A mechanical services company is seeking a motivated, self-driven professional who enjoys solving technical problems and working with customers. This position combines conceptual HVAC and plumbing budgeting, cost analysis, value engineering, and ongoing communication with General Contractors.
We are looking for someone who wants to learn the business, take ownership of assignments, and build a long-term career in commercial mechanical construction. Strong initiative, analytical aptitude, communication, and follow-through matter more than extensive industry experience.
What you will do
Support conceptual and preliminary HVAC and plumbing budgets using project information, historical costs, and input from estimators and vendors.
Review drawings, specifications, and early design information to identify scope requirements, cost drivers, missing information, and potential project risks.
Help evaluate value engineering ideas and system alternatives, considering cost, performance, constructability, and project requirements.
Maintain regular communication with General Contractors about budgets, project needs, questions, deadlines, and next steps.
Coordinate preliminary pricing and technical input with estimators, vendors, subcontractors, and operations personnel.
Track assigned opportunities and customer requests, organize project records, and follow through on commitments.
Maintain historical cost information and help improve budgeting tools and analytical processes.
Participate in customer meetings, jobsite visits, industry events, and occasional relationship-building outings.
