KIPP Oklahoma is a part of a national network of free, open-enrollment, public charter schools offering a choice to families and children in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. We are driven and committed to our mission and vision.

KIPP Oklahoma currently educates over 1,000 students and supports hundreds of alumni. Today, the KIPP Oklahoma network consists of KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools (grades 5th – 8th) and KIPP OKC Public Schools (grades PreK, Kindergarten and 5th – 8th). KIPP OKC Public Schools is growing one grade per year until they are a full PreK – 8th grade program.

Job Description

In our early childhood academies, children grow academically, emotionally, and socially in environments rooted in inclusion and teamwork.  KIPP OKC gives its early childhood scholars a strong foundation in the core academic subjects through play-based learning instruction and an emphasis on developing the social and emotional skills necessary to succeed in school and life. Our teachers create joyful and equitable learning environments where our youngest students can thrive and develop a desire for learning.

 Instructional Responsiveness & Content Knowledge

• • Internalize and teach challenging and engaging lessons informed by instructional data
  • Perform clerical duties, as required, relating to textbooks, instructional supplies, student reports and records, attendance reports, etc.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings
  • When applicable, mentor a teaching resident, if assigned to your classroom, by modeling excellent teaching, gradually releasing classroom teaching responsibilities, and implementing weekly coaching and feedback conversations

 Care of Students & Classroom Culture

• • Build a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging for all students
  • Implement the school-wide and classroom management policies and practices
  • Create a responsive and inclusive environment for parents and families

 Other Information & Requirements

• • While students receive instruction from 8:00 am-3:00 pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00am-2:30pm on Friday, KIPP OKC teachers are on duty in school Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.
  • Perform morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned
  • Pass a background check, as required by law
  • Additional responsibilities may arise during the school year. This could include but not limited to: attending staff and student field trips, professional development, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, home visits, and other events involving parents and scholars as needed. We will communicate them to all employees with as much notice and flexibility as possible.

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Required)
• Commitment to working with students from communities with limited access to quality educational opportunities (Required)
• At least two years of teaching experience as the teacher of record in a traditional public school or public charter school (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in content area (Preferred)
• Experience/strength in content area (Preferred)

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a Full-Time, 10-month position.  Salary is commensurate with experience and based on the KIPP OKC Teacher Salary Scale.
