Pre-K Teacher/Group Supervisor for Pre-K/Preschool

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Exempt, Benefits Eligible

SUPERVISORY CONTROL: Child Care Manager

HOURS: 37.5-40 hours per week for 52 weeks per year.  9:30am-5:30pm

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Responsible for planning and executing a program for children in line with the program’s philosophy and the highest goals for early childhood education. In accordance with the philosophy of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff in the agency and demonstrate a positive attitude towards all clients and other persons with whom you come in contact during the course of your job. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Be able to kneel, stoop, bend, reach, and sit on the floor daily. Travel is not typically expected but may arise as job duties demand. 

SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 

1. Understand and work to achieve the goals, mission, philosophy, and objectives of the program.
2. Plan developmentally appropriate activities based on the current curriculum to enhance the individual development of each child.
3. Ensure developmental screening and developmental assessments are completed and set up individualized goals for each child with specific activities.
4. Meet with parents to discuss the results of developmental screenings and assessments, and as other concerns arise.
5. Be a positive model for subordinates and others working with children.
6. Maintain records or reports that are necessary for the children or the program. This includes, but is not limited to, lesson plans, attendance sheets, developmental assessments, developmental screenings, take home notes for parents, accident reports, newsletters, incident reports, anecdotals, etc. Give reports to appropriate person for filing.
7. Maintain daily open communication with parents (phone calls, email, take home papers, brightwheel, etc.).
8. Participate in parent functions.
9. In the absence of the Child Care Manager, bring questions and concerns to Executive Director's attention as needed. Rearrange staff when necessary to meet ratio.
10. Maintain up-to-date clearances, NSOR, and health physical.
11. Instruct, lead, and supervise subordinates. Evaluate the assistants and classroom aides directly under your supervision.
12. Supervise children closely. Count the number of children frequently and know how many children are in your group and which children you are responsible for at all times. 
13.  Interact with children in all activities to further learning experiences and to meet individual goals.
14. Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment. Keep materials in good repair and stored in a safe orderly fashion. Assume the responsibility for the classroom’s appearance and share housekeeping chores with other staff members.
15. Be familiar with licensing regulations as specified by DHS. Be familiar with STARS and NAEYC regulations and be responsible for the program’s compliance of these regulations.
16. Attend trainings required by the program.
17. Adhere to all policies and procedures
18. Participate in staff meetings.
19. Maintain frequent communication with co-workers and Child Care Manager.
20. Keep confidential any matters pertaining to a child and/or family involved with the program.
21. Be responsible for the assigned computer hardware and software. Perform regular maintenance functions and other duties as outlined in the agency’s written procedure on computer systems.
22. Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Child Care Manager for the efficient operation of the childcare program.

Group Supervisor I-A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field.

Group Supervisor I-A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and one-year experience with children. 

Group Supervisor II-an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and two years’ experience with children.

Group Supervisor II-an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and three years experience with children.
