WHO WE ARE
The Salty is an artisan donut shop that focuses on chef-made, craft donuts that rotate based on seasonality. We use nothing but the highest quality ingredients and make everything in house! Naturally, we don’t use any artificial ingredients in anything we make, because, well - that’s gross! If we wouldn’t serve it to our own family, we definitely wouldn’t serve it to yours! Coffee? Yep! We serve Intelligentsia Coffee and have crafted a coffee menu that pleases all palettes. Lastly, to what makes The Salty- The Salty, is our obsession with customer service. Today’s day and age it’s so easy to get lost in your phone, lost in the madness of the world, so we try to create an environment that is an escape from that hazy life. A place that you know as a customer you’ll receive a positive consistent donut and experience each time. This obsession all starts with you.
THE JOB
The Salty’s Pastry Cooks are responsible for monitoring and prepping all items needed for production. Pastry Cooks work directly with the Pastry Chef, they receive all recipes and quantities from the Pastry Chef each week. Pastry Cooks must be extremely organized and familiar with working with large batch recipes. Our training is structured so that our Pastry Cooks builds a strong product-knowledge foundation, gain exceptional skills to be able to train the team underneath them and learns to handle many different situations that may arise within our kitchen.

RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPERIENCE
Leadership:
- Acting in a responsible manner that promotes the culture, values and mission of The Salty Donut.
- Setting the example for the team while maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to follow and adhere to recipes and execution standards
- Having a thorough understanding of basic pastry techniques such as mixing methods, making pastry cream, cooking curd and scaling
- Decorating donuts and other pastry items by following The Salty execution standards, ensuring all finished products meet The Salty's quality and appearance standards.
- Communicating with Kitchen Leads and EPC/Sous about donut numbers and quality throughout the day.
- Ensuring cleanliness of work areas including under the tables and in the fridges.
- Ensuring maintenance of equipment used daily. Any malfunctions with machinery must be brought to the attention of the Pastry Chef immediately.
- Performing an opening or closing inventory as needed that is sent to the executive chef for ordering purposes.
