Prep Cook

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Part-Time Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that the kitchen operates efficiently by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and properly handling kitchen equipment. The ideal candidate is someone who can work in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about food and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

Prep Cook Duties:

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients.
• Ensure all ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and organized.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist in receiving and stocking inventory.

Dishwashing Duties:

• Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, glassware, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Hand-wash specific kitchen items as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, including sweeping and mopping floors.
• Take out trash and ensure all waste is disposed of properly.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and work areas.

General Responsibilities:

• Communicate with kitchen staff and managers to ensure smooth workflow.
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Assist with other kitchen duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen staff.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
