ABOUT US:

Originally built for the 1962 World's Fair, The Edgewater Hotel has marked its place in history as the host to many famous names in the music scene from The Beatles to Blondie. Embraced by Elliott Bay, The Edgewater stands watch over the Olympic Mountains and Seattle skyline. Practically floating on water, the hotel boasts an authentic Pacific Northwest experience including aluminum exteriors, natural wood interiors and river-rock fireplaces. This classic landmark is defined through its culture and distinctive atmosphere.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Prep Cook to join our culinary team at our esteemed fine dining restaurant. The Prep Cook will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of high-quality dishes by performing various kitchen tasks such as chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and organizing ingredients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary excellence, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

A day in the life...

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping vegetables and fruits.
• Measure and portion ingredients accurately according to recipes.
• Prepare sauces, marinades, dressings, and other condiments as directed by the chef.
• Organize and maintain a clean and orderly kitchen workstation.
• Stock and replenish ingredients and supplies as needed.
• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation.
• Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes as needed.
• Adhere to all kitchen policies, procedures, and standards of quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the chef or kitchen manager.

Salary: $23.14/hr

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a prep cook or kitchen assistant in a fine dining restaurant or similar establishment preferred.
• Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Certification from a culinary school or relevant food safety training is a plus.
