Prep Lead

POSITION SUMMARY

Working in our Byron Center, MI location, the Prep Lead works with our Prep team and Jamb Pullers.  The role oversees the accurate completion of daily schedules, the organization and distribution of material to the production teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the proper quality, accuracy and timeliness of the prepping of all jambs for specials, line, and finish


• Properly staging all jambs for production


• Maintaining the organization, maintenance and cleanliness of the door area, assigned by the Supervisor


• Ensuring that all production areas are properly supplied for the day’s work


• Ensuring cycle counts are completed weekly


• Root cause inventory related issues in the warehouse


• Performing other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor


• Promote a safe work environment for all employee owners


• Model Lumbermen’s core values


• Lead and make improvements to housekeeping standards and continuous improvement initiatives


• Train, motivate, and coach Employee Owners in a positive fashion.


• Maintain a working knowledge of warehouse operations


• Always lead by example


• Have a positive attitude

• Have a “Customer First” mindset and mentality


• Ensure that work area is clean and organized

This position offers a $300 annual clothing allowance to offset costs for work apparel, protective footwear, and PPE.   

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma/GED required


• Prior woodworking would be considered a plus; router, miter saws, table saws


• Prior cabinet manufacturing or trim carpentry work would be considered a plus


• Knowledge of exterior doors would be considered a plus, but not required

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Strong communication skills


• Ability to work independently


• Safe working practices


• Natural detail-orientation


• Ability to accurately read orders and stage material to internal customer needs


• Desire to “do things right the first time”

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift up to 75 lb


• Ability to stand for 8-10 hours/day.
