Role Overview:
The Preschool & Childcare Ministry Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for leading and coordinating our preschool ministry and childcare services at Severns Valley Baptist Church. In alignment with our mission to Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples, and our vision to equip every family to live in the hope of the gospel, connected in biblical community, and actively growing in their faith, so they can pursue God, connect with others, and make disciples, this role requires a hands-on leader who understands childhood development, loves working with young children and families and can manage both teaching and administrative duties. The Coordinator will serve under the direction of the Kids Minister as a vital member of our SV Staff and work closely with the SVkids team.
Weekly Schedule:
- Sunday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Monday: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Wednesday: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
(Occasional flexibility required for special events such as VBS, MOPS, and WinShape)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and teach in preschool ministry on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings
- Build relationships with preschool families and encourage their spiritual growth
- Oversee classroom setup, curriculum preparation, and seasonal decorating
- Ensure all preschool and childcare environments are safe, clean, and welcoming
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise paid childcare workers supporting various church ministries and events
- Manage childcare requests, approve work hours, and maintain clear communication with staff and ministry leaders
- Collaborate closely with the Kids Minister and attend weekly SVkids team meetings
- Participate in planning and supporting special ministry events and seasonal programs
Qualifications:
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ who affirms the Baptist Faith & Message (2000)
- Member (or willing to become a member) of Severns Valley Baptist Church
- Basic knowledge of preschool development and an ability to teach in an age-appropriate way
- Experience working with preschool-aged children and leading ministry teams
- Strong organizational, relational, and leadership skills
- Dependable, flexible, and motivated by a servant’s heart
