Preschool Assistant Teacher

As an Assistant Teacher, you will be responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in planning activities for students, feeding and changing children, and keeping the classroom clean, safe, and organized. 

Reports to: Preschool Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead children in learning and age appropriate activities


• Able to communicate with parents in a positive and empowering manner


• Manage and control classroom and children with wisdom


• Must keep up with monthly lesson plans and daily schedules


• Stays up-to-date with mandated requirements (CPR, CEU’s, First Aid, etc)


• Assess students (Aug,Dec,April)


• Arrives for scheduled shifts on time


• Keeps the learning environment sanitized and safe from hazards


• Make sure parents sign children in and out each day


• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Relevant job experience and education and has demonstrated ability and desire to work effectively with young children


• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents and staff


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Organizational skills are needed to maintain a classroom


• Ability to assess a situation and act quickly and efficiently


• Ability to work as a team


• Ability/willingness to be flexible to change as situations present themselves


• Previous experience a plus.

Training and Certification Requirements

• 24 Pre-Service Training Hours (new employees)


• 24 Annual Teacher Training Hours


• CPR/First Aid Certification


• Ministry Safe Training

Hours: 
This position is full-time/40 week. Work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 5:30pm.
