POSITION SUMMARY:


The Preschool Coordinator is a key member of an administrative team that works together to support the Center's mission and values. The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for the operation and administration of the preschool-age classrooms. The Preschool Program Coordinator is committed to sustaining a high-quality childcare program that values partnerships between families and staff. The Preschool Program Coordinator fosters an open and honest work environment that promotes professionalism and rewards creative, innovative teaching. In addition to coordinating daily educational operations, this role drives center enrollment by executing localized marketing campaigns, managing social media channels, and organizing public-facing community events.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Work closely with classroom teachers to oversee all aspects of program planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the center’s philosophy.

  • Coordinate and maintain daily schedule and routines that ensure all developmental areas are addressed each day.

  • Attend trainings/conferences and continue professional development to keep abreast of current developments in the area of expertise.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to parent concerns, involving teachers, administrators, families, or external support personnel as needed.

  • Work in coordination with the Evaluator to hire, train, mentor, and supervise all preschool classroom early learning program staff.

  • Maintain personnel files of preschool students and staff.

  • Participate in creating annual budgets and monitor expenses monthly.

  • Order equipment and supplies needed for the successful implementation of the program.

  • Consult frequently with the Education Director and take proactive measures to address concerns as they arise.

  • Receive, log, and input monthly tuition payments.

  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications to support center programs.

  • Prepare and actively participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student that is assigned.

  • To design, record, and maintain necessary information, behavioral observation, required documentation, and data collection.

  • To be a positive role model for students and co-workers.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Ability to interact with families in a nurturing, compassionate, and sincere manner.

  • Computer skills with a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets,

  • QuickBooks and related computer software.

  • To perform other duties assigned by the Evaluator.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:



  • Provide useful services for the benefit of the preschool, meet the parents, and answer questions.

  • Ability to interview potential teachers, staff members, hiring, and firing as and when required.

  • Ability to create a budget for the school’s expenses and purchasing supplies for preschool.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of personal information about children, families, and staff.

  • Ability to supervise the preschool staff, detecting the defects in the operation of the school, if any, and making adequate arrangements for solving the issues.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


 



  • A Child Development Permit Matrix is required, preferably along with a bachelor’s degree in teaching, Education, or a related field. Experience as a preschool teacher is essential to fully understand the role of preschool education.


 



  • 2-3 years of experience working in the preschool field


 



  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License.


 



  • Also, an attached printout from the Department of Motor Vehicles is needed to pass a background check.


 



  • Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians.


 



  • Must successfully pass a Fingerprint-based background check of potential employees, volunteers, and contractors pursuant to Public Law 101-630 - Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.


 



  • Indian preference will apply. The Pala Band of Mission Indians will give hiring preference to fully qualified applicants who are Pala Tribal Members. Pala Band of Mission Indians is an equal opportunity employer.
