Position Summary
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will oversee and lead the Discovery Learning Center, an Early Intervention pre-school for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will have supervisory accountability for the Assistant Director of Curriculum, up to 30 teachers and teachers' assistants, and 3 bus aides. In this role, you will oversee compliance, scheduling, teacher recruitment and hiring, teacher evaluation, ongoing teacher education, and budget accountability. This role is ultimately responsible for the education, safety, and wellbeing of the neurodiverse children in our care.
Essential Responsibilities
Professionally represent and advocate for Parc Center for Disabilities’ Discovery Learning Center in various community and Funding Agencies (ELC and JWB) events.
Maintain and ensure compliance with all requirements of the Florida Food Program and collaborate with onsite food services team to provide fresh and healthy foods.
Maintain compliance with all funding agencies and grantors requirements, including but not limited to JWB, ELC, VPK
Assist in preparation of and adhere to budget. Manage tuition billing and invoicing.
Ensure adequate team member coverage in classrooms for ratio compliance
Oversee and approval for direct report PTO requests and timecards.
Oversee management of mandatory training and provide orientation to new team members.
Craft and facilitate regular training sessions on current, best practices for continuing education and compliance requirements.
Schedule and plan annual calendar of safety drills (fire, hurricane, active shooter, etc.).
Oversee management of all activities, curriculum, communication and events for children and parents.
Ensure all program documentation, including accurate attendance, is reviewed, and submitted monthly for quality and compliance.
Ensure student enrollment and staff files are maintained per the licensing requirements.
Support teachers in providing best practices for the diverse needs of their students.
Provide classroom coverage as needed to maintain teacher/student ratios.
Provide basic first aid for injuries and ensure all incidents or injuries are reported as required.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with parents, staff, and the community.
Provide tours, answer questions, and address parent concerns.
Other appropriate responsibilities as determined by AVP of Children’s Services.
Requirements
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
BA in related field + minimum of 3 years’ experience or CDA (Child Development Associate degree) + minimum 5 years’ experience in early intervention or childcare
Current Florida Director’s Credential with VPK Endorsement.
Experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled children ages 0–5 strongly preferred.
Obtain and maintain School Readiness and Teaching Strategies Gold Trainings and Certifications.
Valid Florida Drivers’ License with acceptable driving record.
Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
Schedule:
Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Your schedule may vary depending on business needs and other factors.
This is an on-site role.
