Summary

Part time position teaching children ages 2.7 months to 5 years old  in weekday classes through direct teaching. 

Status

Part time, paid hourly

Schedule

Arrive at school by 8:00 a.m. Depending on the class you will be teaching, hours could be 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are required monthly staff meetings.  These meetings, some hours for planning and set up and clean up are also paid.  The Preschool runs from Monday to Thursday during the school year but exact days will be dependent on the classroom assignment.

Qualifications

• An individual who declares a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.


• Gift of teaching


• Associates or Bachelors degree in Education or working on that degree


• Experience and background in Early Childhood


• Agreement with mission and philosophy of Calvary Preschool


• Agreement with mission and doctrinal statement of Calvary Church


• An individual who has a love of children

Relationships

• Accountable to the Director of Preschool


• Accountable to the Preschool Committee


• Responsible for the children under their care


• Responsible to the parents of children in their care

Duties

• Plan daily lessons and secure necessary teaching aids  Arrive at school no later than 8:00 a.m.


• Responsible to set up room with the help of the classroom aide


• Work with other staff in use of the gym, library, playgrounds and Kiddie gym.


• Plan appropriate field trips for their class


• Greet children at the door and dismiss them to their parents


• Work with children on a one-to-one basis or small groups during activity time.


• Direct activities and implement lessons planned for the day including circle time


• Assist children and aide in clean up


• Responsible to maintain supplies, equipment and toys in classroom and closet and to keep the orderly


• Responsible for classroom management and student discipline


• Keep parents informed through newsletters, conversations at the class, email or phone calls.


• Partner with parents and offer parent teacher conferences (as scheduled)


• Remain until all the children are dismissed and room is clean and in good order for the next class.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Light physical work requirements (lifting 10-20 lbs.), sitting, prolonged standing, potential reaching, climbing.
