General Job Description
Responsible for instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making. Will assist the Preschool Director with open and/or closing responsibilities. Will create daily age-appropriate lesson plans, participate in ongoing professional training sessions, meet with the Directors for instructional planning based on assessment data, and work with grade level teams of teachers to collaboratively plan and also form common unit assessments
Duties and Areas of Responsibility:
-Plan and carry out the provided curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such
as language, motor, and social skills.
- Prepare children for kindergarten by introducing concepts that they will explore further in their long term social and academic future.
- Provide age appropriate weekly and monthly lesson plans.
- Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.
- Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games, and storytelling.
- Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter.
- Organize activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents.
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
- Keep records of the scholars’ progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child’s development.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
- Implement appropriate discipline when required.
- Ensure equipment and classrooms are clean, well maintained and safe at all times.
- Develop activities to stimulate the children.
- Maintain scholar records on developmental and academic growth.
- Be responsible for holding parent teachers conferences.
- Establish policies and procedures for inside and outside the classroom.
- Become familiar with emergency procedures and protocol.
- Understand and comply with DHS rules and regulations.
- Set up a classroom to reflect the lessons currently being taught.
- Ensure scholars are supervised at all times.
- Keep parents informed of classroom expectations, program activities, and their child's progress.
- Discuss scholar development with parents.
- Be vigilant about the health and safety of all scholars.
- Demonstrates team building, teaching and supervisory skills.
- Close and/or open the facility when directed
- Provide coverage to teachers form breaks and/or lunch periods as directed
- Assist the Director as needed
Requirements
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
-Minimum High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); Qualified applicants should possess a degree in Early Childhood or related field, or currently pursuing an ECE or CDA degree
- At least 3 years experience working at a licensed early childhood facility.
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
- First Aid/CPR
- At least 21 years of age.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Food Handlers Card.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current TB test: TB test must be within a twelve month period of start date or a new test is required.
- Attend eighteen hours of annual training.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements.
- Working Knowledge of child care regulations and safety practices.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact the school community with an ability to build strong relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, vendors and build relationships.
- Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment.
- Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment; i.e. fax machine, copier, computer, etc.
- Ability to lift boxes and packages of varying weights and move them to other locations.
