Press Brake Technician

Job Summary:

The Press Brake Technician is responsible for setting up and operating hydraulic press brake machines to bend, form, and fabricate sheet metal components used in the construction of environmental test chambers. This role requires precise manipulation of metal parts to meet the unique specifications of environmental simulation equipment, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to industry standards.

• Set up and operate brake press machines to form structural and panel components for environmental test chambers, including panels, frames, and internal support structures.

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders specific to environmental chamber manufacturing.

• Inspect fabricated metal parts for accuracy, ensuring proper bends, angles, and tolerances are met using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and protractors.

• Adjust machine settings and tooling based on material types and design specifications unique to chamber construction.

• Set up programs and make process adjustments to achieve desired bends per prints and specifications.

• Monitor operations and identify malfunctions during the forming process, troubleshooting issues to prevent defects.

• Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure components align with design requirements and performance standards.

• Maintain equipment through regular inspections and preventive maintenance to prevent downtime.

• Document production activities, material usage, and part counts accurately in line with quality assurance protocols.

• Ensure safety and compliance with OSHA and company-specific safety guidelines during all brake press operations.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in metal fabrication or machining are a plus.

• 1–3 years of experience operating brake press machinery, preferably in industrial or environmental equipment manufacturing.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, with a strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and tolerances specific to test chambers.

• Familiarity with the unique structural and material requirements for environmental test chambers.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a standing position for extended periods.
