Agency Description
The Pretrial Service Department of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s mission is to safeguard pretrial justice while maximizing public safety and court appearance. Pretrial Services meets this mission through pre-arraignment interviews, supervised release services, appointment of counsel interviews, and enforcement of judicial orders.
Position Summary
This is interviewing, verification and data entry work in which the most significant aspect is contact with defendants and others knowledgeable about the defendants. This class conducts face-to-face or video interviews and performs telephonic investigations to obtain factual information that will be presented to a judicial authority for an appropriate release decision. The work differs from other clerical series in the First Judicial District in that it involves heavy daily client contact and is oriented toward a specific issue and an end result. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior. Assignments require evaluative thinking and are performed in accordance with standard interviewing practices and established routines.
The Bail Interviewing Unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Employees in this class are categorized as essential personnel and must report to work during court closures, weekends, and holidays. Employees may work in 12-hour shift rotations.

Work-Life
Working hours are 40 hours per week. This is a full-time, in person position with the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania.
Appropriate experience in the use of personal computers and Windows software applications.
Ability to work varied shift assignments, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must work in person (not remote).
