Job Description - Prevention Coach (Intervention Specialist)

Associates Degree Required. Bachelor's degree in human services or education preferred. Knowledge of prevention, intervention and/or treatment of alcoholism and/or substance use issues preferred. Possession or pursuit of a Prevention Credential preferred but not required. Computer skills, public speaking experience, training skills, marketing skills, communication skills, and working with teams required. Experience working with adolescents, especially in a one on one setting is preferred. Experience working with the media helpful.



DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:


The Intervention Specialist is responsible for the development, promotion, delivery and evaluation of prevention programs, Teen Intervene and other intervention programs in the prevention field. They work closely with the Director of Program Services and Intervention Team as needed. This is also a liaison position working with a variety of substance use treatment and/or recovery partners.



The Intervention Specialist is responsible to the Director of Program Services for job performance. Other duties may be assigned as required by the Director of Program Services and/or Executive Director to fulfill the Mission of Prevention Works.



DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:




  1. Develop and maintain relationships with school district personnel to ensure the successful partnership to foster the client referral process

  2. Maintain thorough client records documenting meeting times, client materials, referral documentation, confidentiality documentation, and record of communication.

  3. Prepare and conduct one on one client meetings representing Prevention Works with integrity and professional conduct.

  4. Maintain yearly program evaluations 

  5. Provide client assessments to develop a referral plan to community programs/agencies, events and educational programs as needed.

  6. Develop, create, and disseminate media resources to advertise intervention services.

  7. Participates as an active member of the Intervention Services Team.

  8. Participates in public forums, meetings and presentations as requested with potential partners; networks with other human service agencies and represents Prevention Works at relevant human services coalitions as requested by the Director of Program Services.

  9. Adheres to Prevention Works policies and procedures, completes standardized statistical reporting and data collection, and timely submission of required reports.

  10. Provides phone and office coverage along with other Prevention Works staff as needed.

  11. Performs other duties required by the Director of Program Services to fulfill the Prevention Works’ mission and Prevention Services objectives.
