Job Description - Previous Retrieval & Oncology Specialist

Base Pay Range:

$17.62 - $26.43

Job Description:

The Previous Retrieval & Oncology Specialist is a Full-Time, Regular position working Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:30pm at our Valley Center Imaging Center.

Summary:  In order to provide the highest quality interpretation possible, the radiologist will compare a current study to previous imaging done for a patient, looking for changes that may have occurred.  This employee obtains images and reports for previous imaging exams, previous medical history and needed lab values as outlined by the radiologist as needed for reading images or performing procedures.  Works with the hospitals to ensure imaging studies are available for tumor boards.

  • Locate, request and obtain relevant previous related exams and/or reports from facilities outside of our organization.
  • Document all communications on the status of individual exams as necessary.
  • Utilize multiple patient record systems to obtain histories and patient information on exams as needed and requested.
  • Ensure that all current and previous related studies and reports are loaded to PACS, exceptions are resolved as necessary and all pertinent accounts and studies are linked prior to radiologists reading exams.
  • Monitor worklists and filters in Medicalis Control Center to ensure radiologists have all electronic paperwork needed for each exam, including chart notes, , orders, surgical notes, procedural notes , etc. prior to reading exams
  • Ensure exams are being turned around timely and in concordance with our designated turnaround times.
  • Follow up with ordering provider’s offices when additional information is needed for exams, i.e. chart notes, pathologies, lab results, location of previous related imaging, etc. as necessary and document all communications.
  • Resolve exceptions to patient accounts as necessary.
  • Load images and reports via disc to PACS system.
  • Monitor email and fax and respond timely. .
  • Ensure proper documentation of any and all cancers on oncology cases are completed within the on line forms including  dates, stage/proper diagnosis, extent of disease, relevant surgeries, treatments, metastases, recurrences and research and/or trial information is completed. .
  • Route and dispatch exams to appropriate worklists in Medicals Control Center for appropriate sub specialty reading.
  • Ensure on line forms are filled out completely and accurately with spelling and grammatical errors corrected on exams. Communicate with appropriate departments to obtain accurate information as necessary.
  • Document and communicate with appropriate staff when prior exams are not obtained prior to the exam being performed.
  • Export exams and images in PACS via dicom as necessary and requested.
  • Follow up that addendums are issued as necessary and timely.
  • Follow up with ordering provider’s offices when additional information is needed for exams, i.e. chart notes, pathologies, lab results, etc. as necessary and document all communications.
  • Prep cases to be presented at tumor boards and email pertinent patient information with appropriate attachments to applicable providers timely.
  • Triage multiple calls on multiple phone lines.
  • Continually provide a high level of customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance.

  • Detail oriented; ability to multi-task; organized and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education through professional journals, approved seminars, etc.
  • Ability to consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages
  • Adheres to departmental standards and personnel policies by demonstrating professional demeanor in conduct and appearance.                                                                                              
  • Follows company departmental standards and personnel policies by using good teamwork and communication skills to help identify concerns and solutions, assisting where needed to ensure a smooth functioning department.
  • Follows all Health and Safety policies and guidelines of Inland Imaging or its partners depending on work location.
  • Performs other duties as required by displaying team spirit and self-growth, accepting and performing other projects and responsibilities, and requesting other projects and responsibilities.
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed  
  • Attendance is a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:  

  • Education:  High School Diploma/GED required
  • Experience: One year of clerical experience required; a combination of education and experience can also be considered.                                         
    • Anatomy and medical terminology – preferred
    • Medical office experience – preferred
    • Understanding of all procedures to be read by radiologist – preferred
  • Computer Skills: Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Outlook, Phillips ISite PACS, EPIC, Medicalis, Web Portals, CareStream, Aria
  • Background Check:
    • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
    • In order to comply with provisions set forth in Sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act, all new employees of Inland Imaging Clinical Associates, LLC will be checked against the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG).  Employees must not be included on this list.  
  • Drug Test: Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test which includes Marijuana.
