About the role

mpathic is seeking experienced physicians to help evaluate and improve the next generation of AI systems used in healthcare. As a Clinical Subject Matter Expert, you'll apply your medical expertise to design realistic clinical scenarios, assess AI-generated responses, and provide expert feedback that helps make AI models safer, more accurate, and better aligned with real-world clinical practice. This is a contract, project-based opportunity to influence cutting-edge AI development while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, and AI experts. Your expertise will directly impact how AI systems reason, communicate, and support clinical decision-making across healthcare.

What You'll Do

• Apply your clinical expertise to create realistic, high-quality patient scenarios that reflect real-world medical decision-making.


• Evaluate AI-generated responses using structured evaluation frameworks to assess clinical accuracy, safety, and quality.


• Provide thoughtful, actionable feedback that helps improve the performance, reliability, and trustworthiness of frontier AI systems.


• Collaborate with mpathic's research team through onboarding, calibration sessions, and ongoing quality discussions to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluations.

Qualifications

We're looking for clinicians who are passionate about advancing the safe and responsible use of AI in healthcare.

You are one of the following:

• Attending Physician: Board certified with a current, active, unrestricted medical license.


• Resident Physician: In your final year of residency or a recent graduate who is board eligible.


• Fellow: Board certified or board eligible in your primary specialty with a current, active, unrestricted medical license.

You bring strong clinical judgment, clear written communication skills, and an interest in shaping the next generation of AI systems through expert human evaluation. Experience with medical education, research, quality improvement, or clinical guideline development is a plus, but not required.

Compensation

This is a contract, project-based position. The hourly rate will depend on experience and project parameters. The rate will be disclosed prior to starting the project.
