Job Description - Primary School Resource Teacher (Special Education)

Position Overview:
Ethos Classical seeks a dedicated and passionate Resource Teacher to support scholars with unique learning needs. You will lead a self-contained classroom, providing individualized instruction to a caseload of 6 scholars with the assistance of a paraprofessional. This role is for 2025-2026, and you will be instrumental in creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where each scholar can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each scholar in your caseload.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and paraprofessionals to create a comprehensive, supportive learning environment.

  • Employ evidence-based instructional strategies to meet diverse academic, social, and behavioral goals.

  • Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate the varied learning styles and abilities of your scholars.

  • Monitor and assess scholar progress, adjusting interventions and strategies as needed.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes engagement, independence, and self-advocacy.

  • Provide guidance and support to the paraprofessional to ensure alignment with instructional goals and scholar needs.

  • Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians to report progress and involve them in their scholar’s learning journey.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding special education services.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Valid Georgia teaching certification in Special Education.

  • Previous experience in a self-contained classroom setting is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively and ensure a supportive environment for scholars with varying needs.
