Principal Data Engineer

A high-growth consumer rewards and marketing insights company is looking for a principal data engineer to help rebuild its data platform from the ground up using Python, SQL, Snowflake, Kafka, Iceberg, and Trino.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with real architectural influence: you'll help design and build a modern lakehouse, stand up streaming pipelines that process tens of millions of events daily, and set the technical standards a growing data organization will run on for years.

What you'll do:

Design and build a next-generation data platform spanning batch, streaming, and event-driven pipelines

Lead the adoption of modern data lakehouse patterns and durable data contracts

Required Skills:

6+ years of hands-on data engineering experience

Strong current skills in SQL, Python, Kafka, and dbt

Real experience with streaming or event-driven pipelines

Medallion architecture experience

Location: El Segundo (2 days onsite required)

Compensation: Up to 270K + full benefits
