Principal Civil Engineering Designer - Land Development Specialist

Position Overview

As Principal Engineering Designer, you'll lead complex land development and infrastructure projects while collaborating with industry experts across multiple disciplines. Your expertise will drive the success of residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments that enhance our community's growth.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of comprehensive grading and public improvement plans from concept through construction documentation
• Develop detailed technical studies and site plans for land development entitlements
• Drive collaboration between project stakeholders, including managers, engineers, and public agencies
• Ensure compliance with local jurisdictional codes and development standards
• Provide mentorship to junior designers while maintaining project excellence
• Optimize design solutions for complex engineering challenges

Required Qualifications

• BSCE with minimum 4 years land development experience, or 8+ years equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated expertise in grading, drainage, and public improvement plan preparation
• Proven track record managing land development entitlement processes
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation/CADD software
• Strong understanding of Central Coast jurisdictional codes and permitting procedures
• Excellence in professional communication and team collaboration
