Overview of Opportunity 

Two Six Technologies is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge embedded hardware solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-paced research and development environment and is eager to lead innovative projects in advanced embedded applications. What you will do:

• Lead a team of engineers in the design, development, and testing of advanced hardware solutions for RF, network, digital, power, and mixed-signal applications.


• Oversee PCB design, ensuring the product meets mission-critical requirements for size, power consumption, and performance.


• Research and integrate productization solutions, including I/O, power, casing, and thermal considerations, collaborating closely with mechanical engineers and other disciplines.


• Oversee design, fabrication, and testing of custom hardware, manage the bring-up, debugging, and validation.


• Identify and coordinate manufacturing with contract board fabrication and assembly vendors to ensure quality production.


• Document designs, layouts, and testing procedures to ensure clarity, completeness, and adherence to standards.


• Collaborate with software, security, and mechanical teams to create integrated hardware solutions for high-assurance applications.


• Attend customer events as the lead hardware engineer.

What you will need (Basic Qualifications):

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).


• 7+ years of experience in hardware design, including PCB layout, high-speed digital design, RF, and mixed-signal applications.


• Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium or KiCad.


• Hands-on experience with debugging and validation tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.


• Extensive knowledge in wireless communication protocols (4G/5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, LoRa, etc)


• Previous experience in a client-facing technical role


• Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to interact across all levels of management, development teams, customers, and stakeholders


• Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.


• Ability to work on-site in Arlington, VA.

Nice to Have (Preferred):

• Familiarity with embedded system manufacturing processes (integrated circuits, PCBs, and electronic assemblies) 


• Knowledge of high speed bus protocols (PCIe, NVMe, AXI, , etc.)


• Experience with Department of Defense qualification standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-883, and IP67 & IP68 dust and liquid protection ratings


• Familiarity with Linux OS, C, C++, Python.


• Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical execution.

Security Clearance:

• Active Top Secret Clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.

Travel Required:

• 10-15% of the time to CONUS sites
