Principal Implementation Consultant

Leads complex implementations and serves as a trusted delivery partner for client organizations transitioning to new systems, platforms, or services. This role is responsible for overseeing end‑to‑end implementation strategy and execution, managing risk, and ensuring solutions are delivered in a way that is scalable, compliant, and ready for sustained operational use. The Principal Implementation Consultant provides technical and functional leadership, mentors implementation staff, and ensures delivery quality across multiple engagements.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Implementation Leadership & Delivery Oversight 

• Lead large‑scale or high‑complexity implementations from planning through stabilization 

• Define implementation approach, milestones, and governance structures 

• Oversee configuration, integration, testing, deployment, and operational transition activities 

• Ensure implementations are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with quality standards 

• Anticipate and resolve delivery challenges, dependencies, and risks 

• Primary resource for the projects staff for domain, software, and implementation experience.  

Client & Stakeholder Management 

• Support and mentor primary implementation lead and escalation point for client stakeholders 

• Build strong, trust‑based relationships with client leadership, administrators, and technical teams 

• Communicate implementation progress, risks, decisions, and trade‑offs to executive and operational audiences 

• Align implementation activities with organizational objectives, constraints, and success criteria 

Technical & Functional Solution Leadership 

• Provide guidance on solution configuration, integrations, and data considerations 

• Validate that implemented solutions align with approved requirements and operating models 

• Lead efforts with technical architects, engineers, and vendors to resolve complex implementation issues 

• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long‑term operational needs 

Governance, Risk & Compliance 

• Ensure implementations meet privacy, security, accessibility, and records‑management requirements 

• Support formal review, approval, and acceptance processes 

• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and implementation records 

• Identify delivery risks and develop mitigation strategies aligned to governance standards 

Team Leadership & Mentorship 

• Mentor and guide implementation all delivery staff 

• Review and improve implementation deliverables and documentation 

• Support capacity planning, workload balancing, and delivery standards 

• Lead the development of implementation methodologies, templates, and best practices 

Transition & Optimization Support 

• Lead go‑live readiness, deployment, and post‑deployment stabilization 

• Ensure effective handoff to operational, support, or customer success teams 


• Identify post‑implementation improvement opportunities and lessons learned 


• Document and implement improvement opportunities
