Job Title: Principal Software Architect 

Job Duties: Develop and manage the technology and architecture of Fortra products by innovating, leading, and enabling teams to deliver superior solutions. Develop architectural best practices and standards. Reduce redundant technologies in product offerings. Enhance product integration between Fortra products. De-risk future projects with research and analysis. Assist the M&A team with analysis of prospective technology. Contribute to Fortra Labs which includes Hack Day programming events, Innovation Days, Lighthouse Projects, the Inner Source program, and other innovation initiatives. Stay current on latest technology trends. Inspire development teams with new technology and more efficient processes. Assist product teams on complex technical projects with proof-of-concepts, designs, guidance, and coaching.  

Position supervises 1 Software Architect [15-1252.00 Software Developers]. 

Position permits telecommuting from within the U.S. 

Required education: Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Computer Science, or related. 

Required experience: 60 months of progressive experience as Principal Technical Architect, Staff Firmware Development Engineer, Senior Principal Engineer, or related occupation. 

Additional minimum requirements: work experience to include at least 60 months of the following: 

Server platforms including Windows, Linux, Linux Kernel and Networking; 

Cloud architecture, storage protocols NFS, CIFS, SCSI; 

Programming languages including C, C++, Perl, Python; 

Desktop application, distributed Cluster development, RAID Controller development.  

 40 hours/ week. Job site/ interview: Eden Prairie, MN. Salary $145,018/ year. EOE
