Job Description - Principal/SR Principal Project Manager

The Principal/SR Principal Project Manager will be responsible for developing strong customer relationships, and leading teams in the Inertial products field. Your expertise will contribute to cutting-edge systems and technologies ensuring national security. The Principal/SR Principal Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of critical programs within our Lifecycle Product Sustainment organization. The role demands an experienced leader who can drive execution excellence by balancing technical, operational, and customer-facing activities. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage schedules and budgets, and become the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring project success while adhering to contractual and quality requirements. This role supports both Government and Commercial contracts, Foreign and Domestic customers. Develop and cultivate customer relationships by interfacing with customer for managing the overhaul & repair of returned material Satisfy customer expectations of rapid product repair turn-around time, develop/adopt and integrate solutions for difficult repair situations involving component obsolescence or compressed timeframes, and provide accurate and timely project status reporting to internal and external management Act as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders, delivering regular status updates, managing change requests, and addressing concerns. Plan and direct all phases of project execution—from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, and closure—to ensure timely and on-budget delivery. Develop and maintain project schedules, establish milestones, and track progress against baseline plans and strategic objectives. Supporting development of product business plans including new business or product line expansion with the customer and within the business unit Identify potential obstacles and proactively implement risk management strategies, including resource allocation and contractual adjustments. Oversee project budgets and financial performance, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting. Coordinate work across technical, manufacturing, and administrative teams, ensuring effective collaboration and efficient workflow. Utilize software tools such as MS Office Suite (with advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Project) and ERP systems, including SAP, to manage data and support decision making. Lead process improvement initiatives to optimize productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction while maintaining strict adherence to contractual commitments. Leading and coordinating the work of employees assigned to the program/project from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas Facilitate proposal and scope development, including contract negotiations and requirements clarification when needed. Bachelor's degree with 5 years or master's degree with 3 years of relevant professional experience in Engineering, Business, Project Management or related disciplines, supporting project or program execution. Experience using project management methodologies and tools such as MS Project for scheduling and tracking, SAP or similar systems for financial or resource data, data analysis tools to support reporting and decision making. Experience supporting Risk and Opportunity Management activities, including risk identification, tracking, mitigation planning, or reporting. Experience supporting monitoring and control of program plans, cost and schedule baselines to support contractual requirements and stakeholder expectations/deliverable. Bachelor's degree with 8 years or master's degree with 6 years of relevant professional experience in Engineering, Business, Project Management or related disciplines, supporting project or program execution. Demonstrated relevant project management experience, supporting planning, execution, and delivery of defined project or program objectives. Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams or tasks with competing deadlines, including prioritization and delivery within established timelines. Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing outcomes without direct authority, including coordination across engineering, operations, finance, or external stakeholders. Demonstrated efficiency in verbal and written communications skills, including preparation and presentation of project metrics, status reports, or performance data to internal and external stakeholders. Experience using project management methodologies and tools such as MS Project for scheduling and tracking, SAP or similar systems for financial or resource data, data analysis tools to support reporting and decision making. Experience supporting Risk and Opportunity Management activities, including risk identification, tracking, mitigation planning, or reporting. Experience supporting monitoring and control of program plans, cost and schedule baselines to support contractual requirements and stakeholder expectations/deliverable. US Citizenship required. Demonstrated experience managing and supporting lifecycle sustainment, repair, and/or upgrade programs within the defense or aerospace industry. Demonstrated experience supporting DoD/Government contracts including interaction with domestic or international customers, partners, and/or en users. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, including drawings, parts lists, and assembly or maintenance instructions. Demonstrated experience using database analytics or reporting tools to support program, cost, schedule, or operational decision making. Demonstrated experience using SAP or comparable Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to support financial tracking, materials planning, or program reporting. Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite applications, including Excel for data analysis, tracking and reporting; Word for formal documentation, PowerPoint for executive and customer/stakeholder briefings, and MS project for schedule development and tracking. Demonstrated experience supporting proposal development and/or contract negotiations, including coordination of technical, cost, or management inputs.
