Job Description - Print Department Supervisor

SUMMARY
The Print Department Supervisor, holds Process Ownership Responsibilities of the Sheeting and Printing Departments. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. The Print Department Supervisor manages work schedules, manages the purchase of Ink, Coating, & Consumables within both departments, determines work procedures, and expedites work flow as necessary. Must be able to understand all of the fundamentals of folding carton production. Communication with departments involved in the production of jobs is a necessity. Departments involved in the process would be Structural Design Pre-press, Die Cutting, and Finishing Department.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following.
1. Supervises and facilitates the day-to-day shift activities of the team. Utilizes knowledge and experience, provides necessary training to team members. Responsible for asset, individual and direct report performance. Oversees crewing scheduling, manages department to all established Operational SOP’s.
2. Manages overall maintenance and reliability of all Sheeting & Printing assets, as well as resolving production problems.
3. Fosters a Team Approach to achieve goals.
4. Full responsibility, and with the help of HR, for interviewing new sheeting/printing personnel, personnel issues, including required discipline.
5. Provides a communication network between direct reports and middle and upper management.
6. Works with employees to maintain a safe work environment. Encourages and leads team members to work in a safe manner and to seek improvement in work practices for their benefit. Develops and implements safety procedures and supports the Safety Team in achieving Departmental and Plant Safety Goals.
7. Assures that the team maintains quality standards and audits the process throughout the shift for accuracy and compliance.
8. Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and overall productivity meets or exceeds established standards.
9. Strives to be technically proficient on the machinery in all departments. Provides assistance to the team in problem resolution.
10. Follow all procedures related to being in compliance with AIB standards.
11. Report any potentially unsafe AIB conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
12. Performs all other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a High School Diploma or General Education (GED). A 2-year Associate Degree would be preferred. Related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of folding carton equipment, KBA presses, Bobst cutters, and Bobst gluers is a plus.
