Description
Performs diagnostic mammographic/Bone density procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Also responsible for equipment upkeep, ACR & FDA accreditation, and follow-ups for abnormal results.
1. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
2. Responsible for safe handling of equipment and films.
3. Performs weekly controls on equipment
4. If out of normal range, take appropriate steps to bring back into normal range.
5. Performs screening mammogram and bone mineral density testing as scheduled.
6. Digitize films that will go to the Radiologist.
7. Prepare DVD or make copies of films to be sent to outside facilities.
8. Puts bone density test results on each provider’s desk for sign-off.
9. Index scanned mammogram reports and send to them provider for sign-off. See that appropriate result letters are mailed to patients.
10. Schedule any additional testing as needed.
11. Follow-up on abnormal tests for patient compliance.
Requirements
Requirements
· High school graduate: BS degree preferred.
· Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology: either college affiliated, or hospital trained.
· Certified in the State of ___Mississippi_ or compact state to practice and administer radiation.
· Greet and screen patients to ascertain their needs and assist them accordingly.
· Current BCLS certification.
· Keep itinerary and appointments for the provide3rs and perform clerical duties.
· Basic computer knowledge.
· Ability to operate mammography equipment and stereotactic localization devices.
